A Gift Worth Sharing

Knowing of my love for coffee, my parents blessed me with a new high-end coffee maker.  It was an extravagant gift for them to give me.  At every available opportunity I communicate my gratitude and appreciation to my parents.

When guests have come into my home I offer a cup of coffee.  This leads to a demonstration of how the coffee maker works and the benefits.  You would think the manufacturer was paying me to talk about their machine.  If I speak so highly for a coffee maker, what about a gift that is truly extravagant?

As Christians, we have all received the most extravagant gift of all–salvation.  Searching my heart, I asked, what do I do with my gift?

Have I told others?

Have I shared the joy of  knowing such an amazing love?

Do I exhibit more enthusiasm when sharing the latest gadget with others?

I should be sharing the gift of love from Jesus.  He paid the most extravagant price for me…for us.  He paid with His life. (Ephesians 5:2 NKJV) The cool part is we each have been offered this gift.

We both have a choice.

Just think, the more we enjoy the gift of God’s love by reading His Word we grow in relationship with Him.  We begin to unearth the treasure of how deep and wide the love of God is for us. (Ephesians 3:16-19 NKJV)  God’s love should be reflected in our lives through our love for one another and sharing the gift of salvation.  Unlike material gifts that rust, our salvation is not made to be put on a shelf or hidden in a basement.

My coffee maker is wonderful, but it does not hold a candle to what Jesus offers each of us.  Sharing the Gospel of Christ is more important than singing the praises of a coffee maker — or anything else this world has to offer.  When daily opportunities arise, let’s begin to share the love of Christ to all who will hear.
